Medieval Women with a Modern Voice
Overheard quotes on bus journeys inspire these illustrations. The style and characters take reference from medieval illustrations, where women were depicted as sly temptresses by the men who drew them, and ruled by the oppressive expectations of medieval society.
This collection is an attempt to set those illustrated women free from their original negative contexts, and give them the empowerment they deserve through the voices of modern women, who I just happen to overhear, on the bus.

Did you know that the humble deck of cards was invented in medieval times? The decks were handcrafted and each suit related to the lives of the person who made it. For example, one deck of cards includes suits based on farming tools - we can assume this designer's life entailed some form of farming, common at the time.
This deck of cards are based on relatable aspects of modern culture. Including the top of a Martini glass, and a cannabis leaf.
